We will introduce the Kahler-Ricci flow in relation to the minimal model program and show how the flow can be continued through singularities. In particular, we show that the Kahler-Ricci flow perform canonical surgeries such as contractions and resolutions of singularities in Gromov-Hausdorff topology.
