Numerical solution of the Helmholtz equation in the high frequency regime is a challenging computational problem because of the indefiniteness of the operator and the size of the discrete system (due to the high frequency nature of the problem). In this talk, we will discuss some recent progress on the numerical solution of the Helmholtz equation in two and three dimensions.
