This talk will cover one of my first multi-disciplinary projects that I worked on at Boeing. I will discuss the several ways that the Applied Math group contributed to a NASA contract to design a hypersonic vehicle. Along with the mathematics, I will share what I have learned during my transition to a career as an industrial mathematician. Laura Lurati joined Boeing Research & Technology as a mathematician in 2008. She received her Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Brown University. Prior to joining Boeing, she was an Industrial Postdoctoral fellow at the IMA. Her current research centers around multidisciplinary optimization and design under uncertainty.
