Quantum Control in Superconducting Circuits

Abstract
Since the advent of quantum limited microwave amplifiers, superconducting circuits have become an ideal platform for studying measurement and dissipation-based quantum control. High-efficiency amplifiers provide access to the non-trivial back-action of a measurement, which can be used as a novel control resource when combined with active feedback. We present experimental and theoretical study of new capabilities afforded by active and autonomous feedback schemes, focusing largely on the problem of remote entanglement generation, an important problem for quantum networks and large-scale quantum computing. In this context, we outline several general strategies for finding and implementing optimal control protocols, and conclude with an outlook to further unconventional measurements.
