Abstract
The Arab Spring was a period of social change through a series of protests and revolutions set against a backdrop of revolutions. During this time, the actors and issues were changing. This talk describes how dynamic network analysis, combining network based text mining with network analysis support the assessment of this change. News data on 18 countries for a period of 1 year are assessed and changes in the key actors, secondary actors, and issues identified. The structural analysis shows a stationarity in the incumbent power structure in contrast to volatility in the structure of the revolution.
