Computational Photography

July 24, 2013
Abstract
William Freeman Massachusetts Institute of Technology Photography used to involve exposing film through a lens, now it is a design problem at the intersection of optics, computation, and image sensors. Synergies between those three fields greatly expands the space of possible camera designs and photographic effects. I'll review my favorite work in this field, showing examples of photographic advances made possible by modifying lenses, light sources, sensors, and related post-capture processing.
