Abstract
Joseph Chow - New York University One of the early markets for autonomous vehicles is the microtransit and robotaxi service. As these markets mature, they are expected to become saturated with multiple operators of such fleets. Public agencies play a role as facilitators of these cyberphysical platforms of multiple operators: control levers include both conventional digital platform transaction fees as well as physical policies and regulations that impact roadway usage. To design such platforms, new tools based on assignment games—stable matching theory applied to coalitions of users and operators within a capacitated network setting—are presented. A recent investigation of the methodology to microtransit is discussed along with the applicability toward automated fleets.
