Optical Invisibility Cloaking

Presenter
March 13, 2017
Abstract
Optical invisibility cloaks can be designed by mapping spatial transformations onto material parameters or onto geometrical boundaries. In this presentation, we discuss the regime of ballistic light propagation (following the Maxwell equations of continua) and the regime of diffuse light propagation (following Fick’s diffusion equation). In both cases, we focus on visible light, outline the underlying principles, discuss experimental realizations and applications, and present fundamental limitations and remaining challenges.
