Abstract
A photonic structure subjects to time-dependent refractive index modulation exhibits rich set of physics that are fundamentally different from that of the static structure. Some of these physics is also important for practical device applications. In this talk, we will show that proper refractive index modulation can break reciprocity, can induce non-trivial topological effects, and can provide an avenue for creating synthetic dimensions that enable the exploration of higher dimensional physics in lower dimensional systems.
